by John Macdonald It is essential that we learn to live by God's faith. This understanding is first promoted in the Old Testament in Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 4. A reiterating of this knowledge occurs in the New Testament in Romans chapter 1 verse 17. Paul reveals that God's righteousness is revealed through His Word as we walk in His faith. The just and redeemed people are to live by faith.
Well said but how can this happen? How can faith be used and increased day by day in our ordinary routines of life?
Paul informs us how to do this. In Romans chapter 10 verse 17 he tells us that faith comes by us hearing. Not hearing just as we hear a sound of wind or a passing car, but rather by hearing the Word of God in our soul and in our spirit. Not just hearing on a flesh level but a deep understanding of who God is as revealed in His Word.
This reading must be a daily practice in order to develop our faith. It is much like running practice for a race or studying our text for an exam or developing a ball skill for a game. The Bible needs to be constantly read on a daily basis. It needs to be continually meditated on. It requires confession over every trial of life. It not only takes diligent practice and effort but also requires our undivided attention often at the expense of other even decent activities so that we can grow in the process of His Godly faith.
Faith grows like a muscle. The more you exercise it in the right way the more your faith grows.
Without faith you cannot please God. He rewards those who are diligent in His Word. Diligence does not just mean reading the Word and thinking it sounds good. you must put it daily into practice by meditating on the Word and confessing the Word. You must believe that Jesus is a rewarder of those who truly believe that He is and do what He tells them to do. Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1 informs us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Walking by faith never means living presumptuously. It means trusting in the Word of a great and wonderful God who loves all His creation, especially those who turn to Him. They must be willing to forsake their pride and trust in God and be obedient in what he asks them to do.
you cannot be a waverer, believing in God to intervene on your behalf one day and the next day going back to trust in the flesh and your own devices. We are to ask in faith not doubting. Those who doubt are like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. James chapter 1 verse 6 makes this abundantly clear.
God does perform miracles for His creation but miracles are not the day to day pattern. No where in God's Word are we told to live daily by miracles but we are told that God wants His people to walk by faith believing that He will do what He has promised.
When God tells you something and write it down so you don't quickly forget it. Refer to what you have been told today or over a period of time and note the date that you found God speak to you. Then thank Him for the wonderful progress He has made in your life.
